Keren Hatzedaka

Terms of Service

Effective July 15, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Keren Hatzedaka donation website and any donation you submit through it. By using the website or submitting a donation, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

Keren Hatzedaka is a charitable donation service operated by Congregation Tiferes Yaakov, Tax ID 83-4411630 (the “Organization,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). The website allows donors to support charitable funds administered or facilitated by the Organization.

2. Eligibility and accurate information

You must be legally capable of authorizing the payment method you use. You agree to provide accurate donor, contact, billing, and payment information and not to use the service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or unauthorized purpose.

3. Donation and payment authorization

When you submit a donation, you authorize the Organization and its payment providers to charge the payment method you selected for the amount and schedule displayed before submission.

  • One-time: one charge for the displayed donation amount.
  • Split: the displayed total divided into the selected number of scheduled payments.
  • Recurring: weekly or monthly charges for the selected number of payments, or continuously until canceled when “Continuous” is selected.
  • ACH: you authorize electronic debits from the bank account provided for the selected donation schedule.

The first installment may be charged immediately when the schedule begins today. A later start date delays the first scheduled charge as shown on the form.

4. Canceling recurring donations

You may request cancellation of future recurring charges by emailing kerenhatzedaka@gmail.com. Submit the request before the next scheduled charge. A charge already submitted for processing may not be stoppable. Canceling affects future charges and does not automatically refund prior donations.

5. Fund designations and charitable control

A fund number or stated charitable purpose identifies your preferred use of the donation. Any designation is a recommendation, and the Organization retains legal control and discretion over donated funds so they can be used consistently with applicable law, the Organization’s charitable purposes, and circumstances affecting the designated purpose.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, no goods or services are provided in exchange for a donation.

6. Receipts and tax matters

We provide a transaction receipt using the information available at the time of donation. The tax treatment of a donation depends on applicable law and your circumstances. You should retain your receipt and consult a qualified tax advisor regarding deductibility. We may correct a receipt containing an error.

7. Refunds, errors, and chargebacks

Donations are generally final. We may review a refund request involving a duplicate charge, processing error, unauthorized payment, suspected fraud, or another exceptional circumstance. Refunds are not guaranteed and may be limited by the payment processor’s rules and whether funds have already been distributed. Contact us promptly if you believe a charge is incorrect.

Please contact us before initiating a chargeback so we can investigate. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be waived.

8. Payment providers and fees

Card and bank information is securely collected and tokenized by third-party payment providers, including Cardknox/Sola. Their services and rules may apply to payment processing. The amount charged to you is the amount presented for confirmation unless an additional charge is clearly disclosed before submission. Processing fees may be deducted from funds received by the Organization or fund.

9. Fund information

Fund names, descriptions, images, links, and other information may be supplied by fund organizers or other third parties. We may review, correct, suspend, or remove fund information, but we do not guarantee that every statement is complete or current. Contact us if you believe fund information is inaccurate or a fund is being misused.

10. Prohibited conduct

You may not attempt to interfere with the website, bypass security controls, submit fraudulent or unauthorized payments, test stolen payment credentials, scrape the service excessively, introduce malicious code, impersonate another person, or use the website in violation of law.

11. Service availability and disclaimers

The website is provided on an “as available” basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features and may decline or hold a donation when necessary for security, compliance, fraud prevention, payment-provider requirements, or protection of donors and charitable funds. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Organization and its representatives will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the website. Our aggregate liability concerning a donation will not exceed the amount of that donation, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the service, law, or our practices. The effective date above will be updated when changes are published. Continued use after an update means the updated Terms apply to later use and donations.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that must be brought in court will be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction serving Ocean County, New Jersey, unless applicable law requires another forum.
